Marguerite de Messières

Paintings, drawings and prints. Portraits and landscapes. Encaustics and oils.

Marguerite de Messières was born in France and grew up on a small farm in Maryland. She received her BA in art at Wesleyan University and studied art conservation and museology at SACI in Florence, Italy. She traveled to Bulgaria in 2004 under a fellowship where she studied woodcarving at the National Academy of  Art in Sofia. In addition to painting, she is a co-founder of Zaphara Arts, which, among other apps, created Wurd Torn, listed by Apple as one of the "All Time Greats" of App Store word games. She lives in Maryland with her husband, sculptor and woodworker Tsvetomir Naydenov, their two children, her mother, various pets and many honeybees.
